Army SGT Brock Mathis Rollins, age 27, of Berwick, LA passed away suddenly March 10, 2018 in Fayetteville, NC.

Brock was born July 2, 1990. He is the son of John & Jackie Dykes of Morgan City. He attended Berwick Schools. He was a cum laude graduate of Berwick High School in 2008 where he ran track & field & enjoyed being in the band playing percussion. He played baseball for Berwick Dixie Youth, loved LSU and the Saints. He joined Immanuel Baptist Church in 1996 & was active in the youth group. He was employed by the Petroleum Club for 2 yrs. He enjoyed working out at the gym, reading and watching movies with Aimee and hanging out with his pups when he came to town.

Brock joined the US Army Infantry Sept. 1, 2010.Graduated basic training and Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA. He was then stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. with the 82nd Airborne with 2-508 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 2nd Battalion, HHC Mortar Platoon and then with 1-325 Airborne Infantry Regiment 2nd Brigade, 1st Battalion, HHC Mortar Platoon. He had 2 tours of duty in Afghanistan.

Brock was a decorated soldier who served his country with honor and distinction on the battlefields of Afghanistan. His awards include the Army Commendation medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Parachutist Badge. Brock was a dedicated leader helping many of his fellow paratroopers. He was a loving and caring son, brother, fiancée, uncle, nephew, grandson and friend. He was willing to help anyone who needed a hand.

Brock is survived by his parents, John and Jackie Dykes; brothers, James Dereck Sealy (Heather), Lance Rollins (Ginny), Jeremy Dykes and sister Taryn Dykes; fiancée Aimee Bergeron; grandparents Luci and Mickey Sheffield and Winfred and Jeanette Mathis; nieces Paityn & Kylee Dykes; nephews Kade Rollins, Jett Lodrigue and Haden Thorske; aunts Lawanna Sharpless, Melanie Manderson, Sue Michel; uncles Johnny Sharpless, Hilton Michel, Jon Robert Michel; cousins Mari Manderson, Airman Zach Manderson, Kenneth, Matthew, Nathan Rollins; extended families Cyndi, Aimee and Jayson Johnson along with the family of Daniel, JoAnne and Abbie Bergeron; his beloved pets Pudgers, Snuggles, Reislee and Gizmo; his lifelong friends Billy Chapman, Jayson Johnson and Cody Vining.

Brock was preceded in death by his grandparents; Royal and Wanda Mayon.

His special paratrooper brothers; SPC Briggs Pittman, SPC Michael Pena, SGT William Snow, SGT Geoffrey Dansro and SGT Brandon Manuel and the rest of his paratrooper family at 1-325.

Honorary Pallbearers are James Dereck Sealy, Lance Rollins, Jeremy Dykes, Billy Chapman, Jayson Johnson, Chuc Viet Vu and Rolando Burbante.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium with James Kyle officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium with the visitation resuming at the auditorium from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Brock will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard.

Also, thanks to the US Army Casualty Assistance Center at Fort Polk, LA, SFC Adams/Casualty Assistance Officer, SFC Frequez/Honor Guard NCO, The Honor Guard Team and 1LT Diel/Escort Fort Bragg, NC. Thanks to the Berwick and Morgan City Police Departments and St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to a military or veterans organization of your choice in Brock’s name.
