Ella Anslum, 91, a resident of Morgan City and a native of Stephensville, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Teche Regional Medical Center. Ella was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a seamstress that enjoyed making children’s clothes and crocheting. Ella loved cooking, word puzzles, music, dancing and in her younger days she enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Ella is survived by her three sons; Bobby Anslum and his wife Sandra of Morgan City, Bernie Anslum Jr. and his wife Leah of Morgan City, Terry Anslum and his wife Delores of Morgan City, four daughters; Ruby Solar and her husband Sidney of Morgan City, Helen Billiott and her husband Cleveland of Morgan City, Caroline Sauce of Morgan City, Gloria Oubre and her husband Herbert of Morgan City. 25 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren also survive her.
Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie J. Anslum Sr., two sons, Jerry and Eddie Anslum, one daughter, Laura Burke, one son-in-law, Milton Sauce, her parents, Joseph Hymel and Angeline Lodrigue Hymel, two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 27, 2007 at Holy Cross Catholic Church from 8am until 11am. A Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 11am with Father Danny Poche officiating. Ella will be laid to rest in Morgan City Cemetery.
