William J. Alfred Jr.

August 12, 1925 — August 13, 2007

William “Bill” Alfred Jr., 82, a life long resident of Morgan City, passed away Monday, August 13, 2007 at Teche Regional Medical Center. “Bill”, also known as “Pa” to many, was proud to have served his country in the United States Marine Corps in the Asiatic Pacific during WWII. “Bill” was a Supervisor for Shell Oil Company and retired after 35 years of service. He was a coach in the Dixie Youth Baseball program for many years, and was a past Morgan City Bowling Champion and is in the Morgan City Bowling Hall of Fame. “Bill” loved boiling seafood and did a heck of a job. He also enjoyed football, baseball and camping, but most of all just being around the grandkids. “Bill” never met a stranger and enjoyed the simple things in life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and best friend to his dog “Willie”. “Bill” is survived by his wife of 63 loving years, Cathryn Budge Alfred of Morgan City, one son, William J. Alfred III and his wife Brenda of Madisonville, one daughter, Jody A. Hains and her husband Price of Morgan City, two brothers; Callan Alfred and his wife Amy of Morgan City, Calvin Alfred and his wife Laura of Morgan City, four sisters; Ida Mae Percle and her husband R.J. of Morgan City, Margaret Holt and her husband James of Berwick, Judy Aucoin of Morgan City and Linda Bitely and her husband Truman of Maine. “Bill” is also survived by five wonderful grandchildren; William Alfred IV and his wife Robyn of Mandeville, Shane Alfred and his wife Rhonda of Houma, San Hains and his wife Kristin of Slidell, Leah DiMatteo and her husband Matthew of Morgan City, Brett Hains and his friend Natalie Helms of Gray. He is also survived by six wonderful great-grandchildren; Jonathan, Ryan, and Jordan Alfred of Mandeville, Alexis and Alaina Alfred of Houma, and Dylan Micheal Hains of Slidell. He was the oldest of 10 children and “Bill” is preceded in death by his parents, William J. Alfred Sr. and Ida Loupe Alfred., three brothers; Edward, Norris, and Bernie. The family will receive friends from 6pm until 9pm, Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Twin City Funeral Home resuming, Wednesday, August 15, 2007 from 8am until 10am at Twin City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held August 15, 2007 at Twin City Funeral Home commencing at 10am. “Bill” will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery. The East St. Mary Veteran Funeral Squad will conduct graveside services.
