Hazel F. Verret, 86, a resident of Amelia passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Terrebonne General Medical Center.
Hazel was born on January 10, 1926 in Thibodaux the daughter of Morris and Louise Saucier Foret. On October 11, 1951 she married Everett E. Verret and after 56 years of marriage he preceded her in death in 2007.
Hazel enjoyed fishing, sewing and also raising chickens and Dachshund puppies. She was a good cook and loved spending time with her family. She was a member of the Bayou Chene Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 35 years.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by four children, Everett E. Verret, Jr. and wife Diane of Amelia, Ernest Morris Verret and wife Cindy of Franklinton, Joseph Paul Verret and wife Joan of Amelia, Susan Verret Foret and husband Joey of Amelia; one daughter-in-law, Alma "Squeakey" Verret of Amelia; two brothers, Stanley Foret and Edward Foret both of Patterson; eleven grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Louise Saucier Foret; husband Everett E. Verret, Sr; one son, Curtis A. Verret; three brothers, Roosevelt Foret, Elward Foret, Walter Foret; two infant brothers.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2012 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Hazel will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
