Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Jean Duval, age 86, who departed from this life on June 14, 2026, in Morgan City, Louisiana. Born on July 23, 1939, in Napoleonville, Louisiana.

Anna was known for her passion for baking, her enjoyment of word search puzzles, and her talent for crocheting.

A talented crocheter, Anna found joy in creating beautiful works, such as little rosary purses, which she generously gifted to everyone she encountered. Her kindness and humility exemplified her character and left a lasting impact on her community.

Anna devoted her life to her family, nurturing her children and creating a warm, loving environment. She is survived by her daughters, Allison Cook, Anna Sauce and husband Bernie, and Angela Verret and husband Lance; and her sons, Paul Duval, Stephen Duval, and Jude Duval. In addition, she leaves behind her brother, Lonny LaVerne, and her sister, Mitzi Gregoire; Thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Murray Duval; parents, Ray and Mildred LaVerne; one brother, Teddy LaVerne; and two sisters, Jo Ann Bishop and Carolyn LaVerne; one grandson Nikalas Duval.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Verret, Blake Verret, Jacob Duval, Josh Duval, Bernie Sauce, and Lance Verret.

A visitation will be held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church on June 17, 2026, at 8:30 AM. Following this, a Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 AM, leading into a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. After Mass, Anna will be laid to rest in Morgan City Cemetery.
