It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Ann Matherne, beloved daughter, mother, sister, and grandmother, who departed this life on August 16, 2026, at the age of 73. Betty was born on March 6, 1953, in Opelousas, Louisiana, and spent her later years residing in Morgan City, Louisiana.

In her leisure time, Betty found joy in fishing, playing bingo, and engaging with word search puzzles, activities that brought her immense happiness and a sense of fulfillment. Her warmth and passion for life will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Dawn Spinella and husband David Spinella, her two sons, Dustin Cortez and wife Victoria Cortez, and her beloved grandchildren, Tyler Spinella, Jonathen Spinella, and Ashlynn Cortez. She is also survived by her siblings: sisters Janice Devillier, Linda Miller, and Brenda Sturgis.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Edell Devillier.

The family also would like to give thanks to the doctors and staff at Thibodaux Regional and at Legacy Nursing Home in Morgan City for taking care of miss Betty.
