Obituary

Brenda Faye Bernucho, 65 of Morgan City, passed away on August 16, 2026.

She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Mark Jude Bernucho, and her devoted mother, Mathilda Anslum. Brenda leaves behind her cherished siblings, Earl Anslum Jr. and wife Lorena and Vickie Billiot, as well as her beloved nieces and nephew: Katie Hatch and husband Tracy, Izabella Hatch, Peyton Anslum,  Abbagail Hatch, and great niece and nephew: Nola Billiot, Brixx Billiot.

It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the loss of Brenda Bernucho. We received the devastating news that Brenda has been tragically lost. This loss has left our company, our employees, our customers, and all who knew Brenda with a tremendous sense of grief and disbelief.

Brenda was much more than a co-owner. She was the heart of Control Fire and Safety as she loved  running their company. She was someone whose character, compassion, and presence helped shape who we are as a company. Brenda’s role at Control Fire and Safety was important, but even more important was the person Brenda was behind that role.

Brenda was loved by many. She had a big and generous heart and was the kind of person who found it difficult to say no when someone needed help. She loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. Those who knew her also knew how much she enjoyed a good cup of coffee. Among the things that she spent her time doing, you could always catch her digging up a lowsey weed in  her flowerbed, hauling Christmas decorations for all the Maple Street traffic, while attending to her past and present fur babies (Dutch and Sky). These simple things, along with her kindness and willingness to be there for others, are among the many memories we will carry with us.

As we grieve, our thoughts and prayers are with Brenda’s family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. We ask that everyone respect their privacy and allow them the time and space they need during this incredibly difficult period. The impact Brenda had on everyone will not be forgotten. We are honored to have called her Mrs. B.

Brenda will be deeply missed but never forgotten by all the lives she has touched.

Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Earl Anslum Sr. and one brother-in-law Whitney Billiot III.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Twin City Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m., until 11:00 a.m., with services at 11:00 am where friends and family are welcome to come together and share their favorite memories of Brenda.
