Carol Ann Ackerman

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Ann Ackerman, our beloved mother, sister, and friend who left us on January 19, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on November 30, 1934, in Morgan City, Louisiana, Carol lived her life full of warmth and love in her hometown.

Carol was a proud homemaker and took great joy in caring for her family. For over 20 years, she was a Lhasa Apso dog breeder, spending much time in her yard and with her dogs. In 1975, she established Our Lady Star of the Sea Confraternity in Morgan City, and for many years she made sure the grotto at Sacred Heart Church was maintained with flowers. She painted countless statues of Our Blessed Mother and other saints. She also said many rosaries for the deceased at Twin City and Hargrave Funeral homes.

She leaves behind her daughters, Felicia Fontan (Tim) and Nichole Cheramie (Larry), and her sons, Al Ackerman III (Rina) and Terence Ackerman. Her grandchildren, Michael Barletta Jr., Matthew Barletta, Michelle Barletta, Mitchell Barletta, Lisandra A. Dyer, Elise Ackerman, Michaela A. Malsby, Jeremy Ackerman, Lauren Cheramie, Grant Cheramie, and Caitlynn Ackerman. Her great grandchildren, Sasha, Malaina,Triston, Carmen, Layla, Fallon and Remy. Carol is also survived by her sister, Frances Price, and brothers, David and Curt DeVillier, who will miss her dearly.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Carol's life. The public viewing will take place at Twin City Funeral Home on January 29, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and again on January 30, 2026, at 8:00 AM. A Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on January 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM, followed by a burial at 12:30 PM.

Carol's kind spirit and dedication to her faith will be remembered by all who knew her. We would like to thank Ochsner St. Mary, Maison Jardin, Doctor William A. Cefalu and staff, AMG Specialty Hospital in Houma, Romona Trosclair and all of our family and friends for their support and services.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Ackerman Jr., son, Todd Ackerman, parents, Warren DeVillier and Augusta Soumeillan, and brother, Jimmy DeVillier.
