Carolyn Nelson Fontenot

August 11, 1940 — October 24, 2023

Carolyn Nelson Fontenot, age 83, a native and resident of Morgan City, La., passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

All who knew her loved her; she was born in Arkansas, but was a native of Morgan City. Carolyn lived a simple life, but an awesome life. It was believed her favorite job was when she babysat; she loved taking care of all the kids, hers and everyone elses. She also worked at the telephone company's when she first moved to Morgan City, and later on she worked at Lakewood Hospital. Carolyn's favorite things in life were God, her husband (she was married for 53 years to the love of her life, Lee.) and all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren- step-children included. Some of the things she liked doing included cooking, bike-riding, going to the horse arena, visiting neighbors, talking to people, and pulling some hair out when the kids got out of line. She also loved garage sales, flea markets, and thrift stores. She was the best maw maw because all of the kids loved hanging out with her, just as she loved hanging out with them. She was always worried about her kids and grandkids because that's who she was. Carolyn always wanted the best for them and did everything she could for them. She loved God and will be watching and smiling down on every one of her loved ones as they go through their lives.

Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Kimla Smith (Russell), Shawna Fontenot, and Darla Mayon (Michael Credeur); her step-son, Eric Fontenot; her brother, Jack Eubanks; her grandchildren, Darrell, Khara, Aprel, Heather, Greg, Holly, Carlee, Ashlee, Jordi, Jace, Journi, Joanie, Tiffany, Eric, and Jamie; 40 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Brenda Nelson and Ellen Nelson.

Carolyn was preceded by her husband, Lee Fontenot, Sr.; her parents, Charles Nelson, and Della Evans Nelson; her brothers, Charles Nelson and Lee Nelson; her son, Lee Fontenot, Jr.
