Cathy Marie Bernucho Stoute

July 25, 1954 – September 28, 2026

Cathy Marie Bernucho Stoute, a Morgan City native and resident, passed away peacefully Monday, September 28, 2026.

Cathy was born July 25, 1954, in Morgan City, grew up in Lake Charles and later returned to Morgan City.

She spent her life working in multiple industries as a receptionist before concluding her time in the workforce with a decade-plus career as a records clerk for the Morgan City Police Department.

Surviving Cathy are her daughter, Diana Claire Stoute, and her fiancé, Gary Smalling, both of Telford, Tennessee; one son, Geoffrey Robert Stoute, of Lockport; her sister, Susan Bourgeois of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; a brother, Barry Bernucho, of Houston; two nephews, Beau Bourgeois of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and Daryl Bourgeois of Dallas; and her father, Nolan “Pete” Bernucho, of Morgan City.

She was proceeded in death by her mother, Carrie Bernucho.

Cathy enjoyed taking care of her family and had a spirit of giving like no other. She gave to anyone and everyone.

Visitation for Cathy will be held Monday, October 5, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City. Visitation will continue Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Morgan City. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Cathy will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum.
