Cheryl k. Lancaster Alcina

On January 25, 2026, Cheryl K. Lancaster Alcina, 64, a resident of Morgan City, was called home to heaven's eternal life.

Cheryl was born May 2, 1961, in Farmington, New Mexico, the daughter of James Monroe Lancaster and Ola Mae Lancaster.

As a proud veteran, serving multiple tours overseas in Afghanistan and Iraq for the United States Army, Cheryl spent her early days in the military as a 31M helping to ensure communications support, while finishing her career off by rolling down the highways as a 88M responsible for transporting people, supplies and equipment. Her innate desire to help others led her to seek an additional career in the medical field, where she succeeded as a CNA.

Cheryl had a passion for adventure and loved to travel whenever given the opportunity. If you didn’t catch her trying to get on a motorcycle or square dancing then you’d probably catch her outside in the middle of the field with no shoes on.

She had a heart of gold and creativity that shone through her love for music, and arts and crafts. While she wasn’t known for her cooking, she loved to bake especially with her grandbabies. Cheryl’s fun nature and high energy was like a beacon of light, it’s no wonder she had a large appreciation, obsession and love for dolphins.

She adored her family beyond measure. Her beloved grandbabies and fur-babies, who were without a doubt the center of her universe; Her doting husband, whom she loved unconditionally, her son who was always the apple of her eye and her daughter-in-law who became the daughter she never had. She thrived on creating moments filled with laughter and joy, ensuring that every gathering was a memorable celebration. And boy did she aim to please especially when she made it her mission to follow her son wherever he went, which she was very good at as she even followed him to Iraq.

Cheryl was loving and kind, a goofball and a mush. While she tried to act tough, she would gladly give you the shirt off her back if you needed it.

She will ALWAYS be remembered and greatly missed by her husband, Mark A. Alcina; her son, Dustin Walter and wife Rachel; her grandchildren, Peyton, Austin and Selena Walter; her siblings, Ann Hedrick and Harold Patrick; her sister-in-law, Judy Lancaster; Niece and Nephews; Laura Mae Dutton, James Lancaster, Clayton Beagle, Tanner Hedrick and Bailey Hedrick.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ola Mae Lancaster; brother, James T. Lancaster.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at Cornerstone Ministries on March 7th at 10am.
