Daniel Paul Gilmore, 48, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Daniel was born October 30, 1975, in Morgan City, the son of Dennis Preston Gilmore Sr. and Joan Wannage Gilmore.
Throughout his life, Daniel found joy in the simple pleasures - from watching wrestling with his sons to fixing trucks together. He enjoyed spending his off time at home relaxing with his family and enjoying a home cooked meal from his wife. He loved to spoil his fur babies, Marley Jo and Sophie with lots of treats. As a truck driver in the transportation industry, he found fulfillment in his work and was known for his expertise behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler.
Daniel was a man of strong character, known for his jokes and his unwavering love for his family. He was a dedicated husband, father, and son, always putting his loved ones first. He always maintained that rough and tough guy on the outside, but he was a “softy” and a very compassionate man on the inside.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his father, Dennis Gilmore Sr.; wife, Michelle Martin Gilmore; three sons, Matthew Paul Gilmore and wife Terri, Blade Michael Gilmore and fiancé Morgan, Kayden Paul Gilmore; one grandson, Nathan Gilmore; brother, Dennis Preston Gilmore Jr. and wife Katy; in laws, Mrs. and Mr. Jack Martin and Lisa Verrett; Jamie Hotard, Shelley Aucoin, Rachael Smith and husband Warren “Smitty” Smith, Kadi Verrett and fiancé Matthew Hairston, Jaci Verrett; nieces and nephews, Tyler and Emmeli Smith, Miley and Rayne Hotard, Elyas and Eric Gilmore, and Emberly Verrett.
Daniel was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Gilmore; maternal grandparents, Edward and Waveland Wannage.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Twin City Funeral Home, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
