David "Davy" Paul Barrilleaux, 58, a resident of Mansura, LA and a native of Gibson, LA, passed away on June 7, 2025, at his home after a defiant battle with cancer that he valiantly fought with stubborn will, relentless wit, and zero surrender. He left this world the same way he lived in it: on his own terms, surrounded by people who loved him.
Born January 23, 1967, in Morgan City, LA, to David L. Barrilleaux and Betty McMurray Barrilleaux, Davy was many things to many people: an unforgettable husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend. He was a character-the kind who'd run his mouth, push every limit, and still be the one you called when things got real. He was loud, stubborn, and steady when it mattered. He'd argue just to keep things interesting, rile folks up without even trying-especially if the topic was political, controversial, or just begging for a good debate. He never backed down from anything or anyone. His stories blended truth with trouble and somehow always left you wanting more. He cooked like he meant it and showed love without saying a word-just by showing up. He wasn't easy. He wasn't quiet. But he was solid, start to finish. And if he gave you his loyalty, it was yours for life. He wasn't perfect. He was raw and real. He made you laugh. He made you mad. He made you think. He made sure you remembered him. And if you were lucky enough to know him - really know him - you knew he had a heart that ran deeper than most.
From gators to deer to fish-if it ran, swam, flew, or crawled, he was hunting it, catching it, petting it, or cooking it. If it was peaceful, he probably lit a fire near it. Some of his best days were spent down the river alongside his brothers, cousins, and nephews-laughing loud, eating good, and soaking up every messy, muddy, sunburned minute. The outdoors wasn't just a hobby; it was his rhythm. The mud, the heat, the quiet-they matched him. They didn't ask him to change, and he never did. That same spark showed in his love for music and movies which were as diverse as he was. He loved listening to old school tunes, the blues and sometimes threw in something totally surprising. He watched horror flicks that made you jump, then laugh and then would flip to a movie so far back it was in black and white. He didn't just pass time-he filled it with mischief, fun, and the kind of chaos that made life worth remembering.
What he loved most, though, was time spent with his wife, Rachel-his first love and his last love. With nearly four decades and a lot of life in between, these two found their way back to one another and spent the last few years soaking in and cherishing every precious moment. They loved antique and flea market shopping, cooking together, trying new restaurants, spending time with their Fur babies, and sharing quiet late-night dances on the patio. But it was the small things she'll remember most: his mischievous smile, those puppy-dog eyes, and the way he made even the ordinary feel unforgettable. Those memories will stay etched in her heart forever.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rachel Barrilleaux of Mansura; his mother, Betty McMurray Barrilleaux of Berwick, his daughters, Kaylie Bordelon (Quincy) of Brouillette and Lauren Boudreaux (Cody) of Franklin; his son, Justin Henry Sr. (Kathryn) of Lecompte; and his stepson, Rodney Hebert (Abby) of Vidrine. His grandchildren include Payton McCauley, Asher Fontenot, Brett Bordelon, Colt, Lila, Codi Claire, and Dixie Boudreaux, and Ava and Justin Henry Jr.; and his step-grandchildren include Derrick and Brody Bordelon, and William, Maryellen, Wesley, and Walker Hebert.
He is also survived by three brothers: Johnny Barrilleaux (Shannon) of Patterson, Christopher Barrilleaux (Jenita Cadierre) of Houma, and Chad Barrilleaux (Terra) of Morgan City. He leaves behind five nieces: Kasie LaFleur, Naketta Barrilleaux, Brianne Barrilleaux, Madison Barrilleaux, and Brittany Barrilleaux; four nephews: Quentin Barrilleaux, Dylan Barrilleaux, Logan Barrilleaux, and Gavin Barrilleaux; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, and friends.
Pallbearers to serve: Quentin, Logan and Gavin Barrilleaux, Lance and Michael Verrett, Savannah Andrus, Brittany Elmore and Payton McCauley.
His life was touched by two beautiful, faithful people who always had his back-Eva Davidson(sister/sister in law) and Leo (G-BO) Mingo Jr. (blood brother for life)
He was welcomed into Heaven by his late wife, Pauline Barrilleaux; his father, David L. Barrilleaux; and his unborn child, Baby Barrilleaux.
Davy's legacy is stitched into every wild story, every loyal bond, and every memory that still makes someone laugh out loud. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
