Dorothy Whitley

Dorothy Ané Whitley, 92, a resident of Morgan City, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 23,2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy was born September 3, 1930, in New Orleans, the daughter of Dr.  Joseph Novell Ané and Louise Lambiotte Ané.

Dorothy had a humble and pure heart. She made an impact on all of us in a quiet and selfless way. Dorothy loved everyone unconditionally. She was married to the love of her life Dr. Glenn Whitley for 62 years. Dorothy was devoted in her faith and would volunteer and serve at her church (Holy Cross) as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion for the homebound. She also served her community as a member of the church’s bereavement team and as an Altar Society member.

Dorothy will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her four daughters, Mary Colleen Whitley Hunter and husband Bill Hunter, Michele Whitley Olinde and husband Wallace Olinde Jr., Gwenne Whitley Waddell and husband Robert Waddell, and Frances Whitley Chapman and husband Tony Chapman; one sister, Miriam Ané Dussè and husband Ron Dussè; ten grandchildren, Lindsay, Trey, Taylor, William, Brittany, Michael, Brooke, Haley, Robert, and Hannah; and one great grandchild, Axel.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Joseph Novell Ané and Louise Lambiotte; and her husband Dr. Glenn Whitley.

The family would like to give special thanks to Journey Hospice and to Dorothy’s caregivers, Inez, Jackie, Darlene, Dannette, Cindi, Renee, and Georgia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2022, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Friday, October 28, 2022 at Holy Cross Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. till Mass. Following Mass, Dorothy will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum.
