Herbert “Herb” P. Menard, 89, a native of Abbeville, born on November 17, 1934, and lifelong resident of Berwick, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Herbert was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather. Herb loved his music and dancing.
He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Berwick and a Fourth Degree Knight with the Msgr. J.J. Rousseau Assembly No. 335.
He is survived by his children, Cindy Dugas, Doris Barbier and husband Brian, Nathan Menard and wife Denese, daughter-in-law Nichole Menard. He also leaves behind his six grandchildren, Earl Galloway and wife Jennifer, Neil Barbier, Cassie Barbier and wife Brielle, Hayden Menard, Clay Menard, and Mallory Menard; his great grandchildren Micah Galloway, Peyton Galloway, and Kylan Galloway; and great-great grandchild Rowan Galloway. He also leaves behind one sister, Helen Landry.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Enite Menard, his wife, Winnie Menard, his son, John Menard, and his grandson, Casey Galloway.
Visitation will be observed today, Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City. Visitation will resume Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Berwick at 10:00 a.m. Herb will be laid to rest in the Berwick Mausoleum.
We would like to thank Herb’s caregivers Deborah Lodrigue, Dee Dee Acosta, Roberta Mire, Sophie Willis, and Bridgeway Hospice. The family wants to express our deepest appreciation for all the care and support you provided to Herb. Your kindness, patience, and dedication mean the world to us. Thank you!
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society and Bridgeway Hospice.
