James “J.D.” David Houghton, 70, a resident of Patterson, La, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
J.D. was born on September 26, 1951 in Ferriday, Louisiana, the son of James Loran Houghton and Ollie Howard Houghton.
J.D. was known to his fellow truckers by his CB handle, “Ragman.” He loved big trucks and being on the road with his family running and escorting loads. J.D. was a family man, and he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He also enjoyed anything
outdoors including hunting and fishing. J.D. was also a prankster and made everyone laugh.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Janet Marie DeHart Houghton; two sons, James “Jamie” Loren Houghton and wife Jenny, Troy David Houghton and wife Anne; two daughters, Reba Diane Houghton and significant other Mark, Stephanie Renee McCrory and
husband Billy; four sisters, Irene Smith, Loraine Fields, Hellen Traxler, Nell Norwood and husband Richard; eight grandchildren, Trent Houghton and significant other Nikki, Shelby Dore’ and husband Kevin, Olivia Gray, Trace Burke, Cullen Houghton, Rylee Houghton, Wayne McCrory, Ashley Houghton; one great grandchild, Noah Buford; and honorary grandchildren, James McBay and Brittany McBay.
J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ollie Houghton and sister, Dell Houghton.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Houghton, Troy Houghton, Cullen Houghton, Trent Houghton, Wayne McCrory, Trace Burke, James McBay, and Ray Hoover.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Twin City Funeral Home with Pastor Marty Harden officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Twin City Funeral Home from 9:00am until the time of services. After services, J.D. will be
laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
