James “Jimmy” Rink Jr., a beloved member of the community, passed away on October 16, 2023, at the age of 94. Born on December 11, 1928, in Berwick, LA, Jimmy was a cherished father, grandfather, and friend.
Jimmy lived a life filled with love, kindness, and dedication to his family and community. As a young man, he served his country proudly as a U.S. Army National Guard. After his military service, Jimmy settled in Morgan City, where he began a successful career as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Known for his strong work ethic, he dedicated himself to his job, leaving a lasting impact on those he worked with and the projects he completed.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jimmy was an active member of several community organizations. He served faithfully as an Usher at Sacred Heart Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1373, and the American Legion Post 242. He was also a devoted member of the East St. Mary Veteran Funeral Post Squad, where he held the esteemed position of Squad Commander. Additionally, Jimmy was an active member of the AARP, where he enjoyed connecting with fellow members and contributing to the betterment of his community.
Jimmy’s love for his family knew no bounds. He leaves behind his beloved daughters, Janet Rink Carmouche and Debbie Rink, who will forever cherish his memory. He was a proud and doting grandfather to Wayne Vidos and wife Sharee, Kelly Carmouche Franklin and husband Todd, Clint Adams and wife Heather, and Chad Carmouche, who will always remember the special moments they shared together; great-grandchildren, Camren Elliott, Kaiden Adams, Alexandria Vidos, Keiton Theriot, Gabriella Vidos, Olivia Adams, and Ryan Vidos; Rachelle Adams Theriot.
Jimmy was preceded in death by wife, Betty Landry Rink; parents, James Williams Rink Sr. and Effie Vining Rink; brother, Jerry Rink; two sisters, Ruby Rink and Deanna Childress.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 23, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Brett Lapeyrouse officiating. Family and friends may gather at Twin City Funeral Home, Sunday, October 22, 2023, from 5:00p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and again Monday, October 23, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., where they will have the opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate the legacy of this remarkable man. After Mass, Jimmy will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery, where Millitary Honors will be rendered by the Patterson Memorial VFW.
