Jimmie Joseph Eues

Jimmie Joseph Eues, 79, a lifelong resident of Stephensville, LA died peacefully at this home surrounded by loved ones after a tough battle with cancer. He was a very kind, generous, simple man who never met a stranger.

He graduated from Morgan city High School in 1964 before going to work at Swiftships as a welder and later a draftsman. After retiring from Swiftships, he followed in the footsteps of his father and worked as a bridge tender for St. Martin Parish.

Jimmie loved being surrounded by his family. He treasured his time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and loved being their Daddy, Pops, and Pawpaw Jimmie. His love for boats, water, LSU & Saints football, dancing, singing, food, and post-it notes will live on in his loved ones as each of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have little pieces of his personality and love of life.

Everyone who knew him, knew how much he loved being a jokester, his blue jeans, denim shirts, plaid shirts, post-it notes, coffee, 550 engines, and being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boat riding "around the island". We will always treasure the photos and videos of his last boat ride singing, dancing and eating carrot cake.

Jimmie will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity. We will always imagine hearing him say "perfect", "that's nice", or "yes" and his love for taking care of his babies - the birds, squirrels, and cats that called his home their home.

Jimmie will be fondly remembered by his siblings Viney "Dine" Acosta and Emilda Landry (UJ). His children, Melissa Eues Fontenot (Chris), Stephanie Eues Hover (Steve), Kristie Eues Tanner (Bryan), Robin Eues Sellers, Danielle Eues, and the man he thought of as his son, Harry "Tripp" Hicks. His grandchildren, Kristyn Coogan (Kevin), Christopher Fontenot (Lacy), Aimee Hays, Vance Fontenot, Ryan Hover (Ainsley), Megan Upperman, Julia Sellers, Nicholas Sellers, Nathan Sellers. Great-grandchildren, Keira Coogan, Isabella Coogan, Isla Coogan, Maelynn Coogan, Emersyn Fontenot, Everley Fontenot, and Anamollie Hays.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents Clement & Gladys Eues, brothers Ervin, Eugene "Bob", and Russell Eues, sister Leatrice "Yat" Acosta, and grandchildren Mindy Fontenot and Ryan Toups.

The family would like to send a special thank you to care teams: Prevention Plus Clinic, with a special thank you to Kristin Acosta; Jackie at Thibodaux Regional Cancer Center; Dr. Saba at Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center; Physical Therapist and "buddy" Erika; Hope Hospice staff, Crystal, Jodie, T, and Deacon Brent.
