With heavy hearts yet an unwavering spirit of celebration, we announce the passing of Jude Christian Blankenship, a vibrant soul born on December 26, 2007, in Lafayette, Louisiana, who left us far too soon on May 23, 2026. Jude, a compassionate and sensitive young man from Patterson, filled every room he entered with warmth, laughter, and a brilliant smile that brightened even the cloudiest of days.
As a cherished son to Melissa Bonnette and Buddy Blankenship, Jude was loved deeply and returned that love tenfold. A life characterized by kindness, thoughtfulness, and an infectious sense of humor, he was truly the life of any gathering. His passions ranged from the rhythmic melodies of music—where he shone brightly as a flute player in the honor band—to the realms of classic literature, where he found solace among the pages of great stories. Jude’s dreams of studying English literature mirrored his deep appreciation for the arts and the power of words.
A budding talent in cosmetology, Jude also inherited his father's culinary skills, whipping up delightful meals that brought people together around the dinner table. An avid reader with an insatiable thirst for knowledge, he engaged in conversations that inspired others and showcased his brilliance. His love for anime enriched his creativity and offered him a canvas to explore endless possibilities.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his mother, Melissa Dupre Bonnette; father, Buddy Blankenship and wife Cheri; sister, Ren Blankenship; step-siblings, Jacob and Crystal Courts; maternal grandmother, Susan Wiggins; maternal uncle, Ronald Dupre Jr. and wife Sharon, Gene Dupre and wife Danyelle; paternal aunts, Becky Pitre and husband Scott, Vicki Laubach and Patrick Price; maternal Cousins, Payton Dupre and Shane Dupre; paternal cousins, Matthew, Jonathan, and Grace Beadle, Kelsey Luquette, Blaine, Trey, and Travis Laubach.
Jude was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Ronald Dupre Sr., and Kenneth J. Wiggins Sr.; paternal grandparents, Shirley and Donald Blankenship; cousin, Brendon Dupre; step-sibling, Drew Courts.
Pallbearers will be Ren Blankenship, Gene Dupre, Justin Prejean, Matthew Beadle, Jonathan Beadle, Blaine Laubach.
Funeral services honoring and celebrating Jude’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 1, 2026, at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Monday, June 1, 2026, at Twin City Funeral Home, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. After services, Jude will be laid to rest in the Berwick Cemetery.
Please join us celebrating Jude’s vibrant spirit by wearing bright, vibrant colors for his funeral. His memory will remain a beacon of light in our hearts forever.
