Lester Joseph Fryou, Sr., 91, a resident of Morgan City, was reunited with the love of his life, Lois Gros Fryou, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Lester was born August 17, 1932, in Persimmon Pass, La.
He was the son of William Joseph Fryou and Rita Verrett Fryou. At a young age he learned to help his dad hunt, fish, and trap. He graciously passed down these skills to his children and grandchildren. He loved the outdoors and spent lots of time down the bayou- hunting, fishing, shrimping, or crabbing. He also made valuable memories with family and friends at the camp.
Lester worked at McDermott for nearly 40 years. He began his career as an oiler on a dragline. Through the years, he advanced and became crane operator, rigger leader man, and heavy equipment superintendent, the position he held until he retired in 1992.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three sons, Lester “L.J.” Fryou, Jr. and wife Donna, Kevin Fryou Sr. and wife Marie, Mark Fryou, and wife Niki; seven grandchildren, Daniel Fryou and wife Brandy, Jenny D’Arensbourg and husband Paul, Kevin Fryou Jr. and wife Mandy, Mandi Keigley and husband Jason, Matthew Fryou and wife Nicole, Brady Fryou, Rhett Fryou and wife Emily; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Viola Ohmer.
Lester was preceded in death by his parents, William, and Rita Fryou; wife, Lois Gros Fryou; four sisters; Thelma Daigle, Bessie Mabile, Lucille Blanchard, and Mayola McDonald.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Greg Fratt officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Twin City Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again Friday, April 26, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. After Mass, Lester will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum with his wife, Lois.
Special thanks to Dr. Dishman and her staff, Journey Hospice, Deacon Randall Jennings, Rev. Greg Fratt, Rev. Freddie Decal, Rev. Brett Lapeyrouse for all the love, care, and spiritual support.
