Lynette Breaux Meranta

July 9, 1957 — October 9, 2021

Lynette Breaux Meranta, 64, a resident of Bayou Vista, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Ochsner St. Mary Hospital.

Lynette was born on July 9, 1957 in Morgan City, the daughter of Joseph Ervin Breaux Sr. and Ruby Jones Breaux.

Lynette was many things to many people, but who she was as a person encompassed much more than the handful of titles she picked up throughout her life. Lynette was a strong and driven woman who tackled the many obstacles life threw her way head on, impressing those around her with her intellect and savvy way of making things happen. She had an artistic and creative spirit, and her love of reading is a gift she certainly passed on to her children. Her nurturing and protective soul made her a natural animal lover, great friend, ally, and family member. Lynette loved her family deeply, cherishing time spent with them; she especially loved being a “mawmaw” and the time spent with her grandbabies. Lynette would be quick to tell anyone who asked that the best years of her life were the ones she spent with her wonderful husband.

Lynette was exceptional, kindhearted, loyal and absolutely irreplaceable. Our hearts ache from the hole her absence leaves behind, but we are all better for having felt the warmth of her spirit.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Kim Meranta of Bayou Vista; two children, Joseph “Breaux” Gargano and wife Brianna of Nashville, Tennessee and Marlena Gargano and partner Joseph Perque of Baton Rouge; one step daughter, Asia Renee Meranta Breaux and husband Jason of Bayou Vista; two grandchildren, Olivia Gargano and Samuel “Sammy” Gargano; one step granddaughter, Braylee Breaux; her mother, Ruby Jones Breaux of Bayou Vista; one brother, Joseph E. Breaux Jr. and wife Kim of Bayou Vista; three sisters, Belinda Thibodeaux and husband Kurt of Patterson, Jenny Jones and husband Keith of Garden City and Sherrie Breaux and husband Tim of Gibson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Lynette was preceded in death by her father, Joseph E. Breaux Sr.; her Godchild, Christina Thibodeaux Doucet; maternal grandparents, Samuel and Eunice Jones; paternal grandparents, Norman and Edith Breaux.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Father Angelo Cremaldi celebrating Mass.
