It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Madge Cortez Comeaux, a cherished member of the Morgan City community. Born on November 1, 1937, in Morgan City, Louisiana, Madge departed this life on June 3, 2025, at the age of 87.
Madge was a beloved florist known for her exquisite arrangements and her passion for gardening, which brought beauty and joy to the lives of many. Her commitment to her craft extended beyond her professional endeavors as she nurtured a deep appreciation for nature and the floral arts.
Madge is survived by her brother, Nelson B. Cortez; one niece, Angel W. Tisdale and her children and grandchildren; and one nephew, Dickie J. Written. Each of them holds treasured memories of her kindness, strength, and unwavering support.
Madge was a cherished member of her community and will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and passions She found joy in fishing and treasured her time spent at her camp in Grand Isle, where she created countless memories with family and friends. Madge took great pride in being a charter member of the Krewe of Galatea.
Madge was preceded in death by her parents Nelson J. Cortez and Dorothy Breaux Cortez; three spouses, Vincent J. Gray Jr., Corbett J. Comeaux and Morton S. Seymour; one sister, EarlRay Written and her husband J. H. “Dickie” Written Jr.
The family wishes to acknowledge special friends Mrs. Cindy LaSalle and Ms. Georgia K. Cantrell and “the fuz”. They also wish to thank Management of Patterson Health care Center for the love and care the staff gave to Ms. Madge.
Madge’s service will be in a private graveside ceremony handled by Twin City Funeral Home.
