Mary “Abba” Cannella, age 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, September 24, 2026, In Birmingham, Alabama.

Mary made her life in Morgan City, Louisiana, where she worked at Morgan City Bank, and enjoyed being a part of an incredible group of life long friends in the Krewe of Galatea . Keeper of many birds, up to 200 at times, she was a keeper of gods most fragile creatures.
After Gordon’s passing she took over their business, American Electronics,until she sold and moved to Birmingham, Alabama, to be close to her daughter and grandchildren.
After retirement she was able to spend time with family, travel and see much of the world

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gordon Joseph Cannella, and her son, Gordon Mark Cannella. We take comfort knowing Gordon was there to take her hand and bring her home to be with Mark.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Leslie Cannella Nordness, Son in Law Steve Nordness and Cindy Cannella; her grandchildren, Ryan, Victoria (Russ), Bethany (Michael), Ella (Anthony)
her great-grandchildren, Liliana, Landon, Finley, Collins, Reese, Tucker, Enzo, and Gordon.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Twin City Funeral Home, 412 4th Street, Morgan City, Louisiana 70380. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Morgan City Cemetery.
