Ronald Joseph May Sr.

Ronald Joseph May Sr., 79, a resident of Gibson, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 1, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Ronald was born August 17, 1942, in Kaplan, the son of Earnest May and Gertrude Latiolais May.

Ronald proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years before being honorably discharged to tend to his family. Ronald was one of 12 children and became a main provider for his siblings after his mother’s passing. He was a master of many trades, especially electrical work. Ronald enjoyed karaoke and spending time with his family.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Crochet May of Gibson, one daughter, Renee May Belanger of Gibson; six siblings, Jackie Montet of Amelia, Garry May and wife Linda of Bayou L’Ourse, Harry May and wife Mary Jane of Duson, Patricia Pasion and husband Winfred of Hawaii, Veronica Bernadou and husband Henry of Bayou Vista, Blanche LeBlanc of Baldwin; two grandchildren, Heather May and Candace Miller; three great-grandchildren, Jaden May, J’Shawn Anderson, and Jayla Kimbrough; numerous nieces and nephews.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Gertrude May; son, Ronald “Ronnie” May Jr.; five brothers, Lawney, John Wayne, Earnest Jr., Archie, and John Paul May. 

Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 9, 2022, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Amelia, with Father Joe Chacko officiating. Memorial visitation will be held Monday, May 9, 2022, at St. Andrew Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. After Mass, Ronald will be laid to rest in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Gibson, where military honors will be rendered.
