Samuel “Sam” Paul Romero Jr., 61, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at his home.

Sam was born July 22, 1965, in Kansas, the son of Samuel Paul Romero Sr., and Essie Renfroe Romero.

Sam was a kindhearted and welcoming person whose presence touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. He spent many years working at Rouses, where he became more than just a coworker to so many—he became a friend and part of the Rouses family.

Sam never met a stranger. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome and valued, always greeting people with a smile and, more often than not, a warm hug. He believed strongly in second chances and saw the good in people, even when others may not have. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, go the extra mile, and be there for those around him.

Those who knew Sam will remember him for his generous spirit, his welcoming heart, his hugs, his love of animals, and the way he made people feel like they mattered. He leaves behind countless memories and a lasting reminder that kindness, compassion, forgiveness, and love can make a difference in the lives of others.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sister, Lisa Richard (Chip); niece, Layla Richard; friend, William Shrader; his entire rouses family.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Sr. and Essie Romero; brother, John Romero; partner, Billy Lyons; grandparents, aunt and uncles; and his beloved dog, Maggie.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, August 22, 22026, at Twin City Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m., where friends and family are welcome to come together and share their favorite memories of Sam.
