Obituary

Steven Bern Sweetser June 8, 1950 – October 30, 2026It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Bern Sweetser, 76, a native of Panama City, Florida and resident of Patterson, Louisiana who departed this life on Friday, October 30, 2026.

Steven was the founder of CJC Inc., a company he built through hard work, determination and a lifelong passion for construction. He took great pride in his work and loved sharing his knowledge, telling stories of past jobs and reminiscing about the way things used to be done. His company and craftsmanship were lifelong sources of pride.

He was a man of strong character and had generous heart. Steven believed in giving people a chance. Whether offering someone a job, helping them get back on their feet or lending a hand when needed, he was always willing to help.

Steven was a devoted father who worked hard to provide for his family and taught his children the value of hard work, independence and perseverance. He had a larger than life personality, a wonderful sense of humor and a love for good conversation. Even in his final days, he was sharing stories, jokes and laughter with those he loved.

He is survived by his five children; Sherie Abshire (Ron), Steven Sweetser Jr., Rosanna Daleiden (David), Jericha Sweetser and Sarah Sweetser; his nine grandchildren, Ashley Plaisance (Catlin), Ron P. Abshire Jr. (Samantha), Bobby Abshire, Matthew Conerly, Karter Fabre, Kamille Fabre, Kennedy Fabre, Oliver Daleiden, and Emery Daleiden; two great-grandchildren, Ella Plaisance and Rhett Plaisance.

He is also survived by his brothers, Mike W. Sweetser, Sr and Daniel T. Donohue ; his sisters, Linda Moore (Jerry Dean), Margaret Rebecca “Becky” Sweetser Coffey and Dr. Danielle Donohue (Jennifer J. Collins). His Aunt Susan Adams Dupuis (Raymond).

Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Andrew Sweetser Sr. and Geraldine Adams Sweetser Donohue; and his brothers, Charles Andrew Sweetser Jr. and Paul M. Sweetser.

Among the many memories he leaves behind are the years spent working with his brothers Charles and Mike who shared his love for craftsmanship, Norma Nell Loupe Sweetser Begnaud , his son Steven Jr., brother in laws ; AJ Richard and Bubba Acosta and Solomon Rowland who was family in every way that mattered. Sharing his knowledge and passion for construction with them was a special part of his life. The years he spent working together with his family were some of his fondest memories.

Steven will be remembered for his strength, generosity, laughter and the lives he touched. His legacy lives on through his family and the many buildings and projects throughout the community that stand as a testament to his life’s work.

The hands that built so much in this world may now be at rest, but the love and legacy he leaves behind will stand forever.

A visitation will be held on Saturday November 7, 2026, from 9:00am until 1:00 pm at Twin City Funeral Home , 412 Forth St., Morgan City, Louisiana, 985-384-7630.
