Teresa Cheramie

Teresa Cheramie, a beloved member of the Morgan City, LA community passed away on May 19, 2024. Born in New Orleans, LA on January 5, 1949, Teresa was a woman of strength and compassion who touched the lives of all who knew her.

Teresa was known for her love and dedication to her family, particularly her children and grandchildren. She took great joy in spending time with them and creating lasting memories together.

Teresa will always be remembered for her passion for cooking and baking, her skills in the kitchen bringing joy to those around her. She obtained a Bachelor's Degree, showcasing her dedication to education and lifelong learning. Her education prepared her for the various positions she held as a long time employee of Patterson State Bank.  Teresa was known for her adventurous spirit and love for travel. She cherished exploring new destinations.

She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness to be cherished by her surviving loved ones, including her sons Christopher and wife Lindsey and Terry and wife Christie, her grandchildren Austin and Anastasia, and her brother Leo Protich Jr. 

Teresa was preceded in death by her husband Leon Cheramie, Jr and parents Leo Protich Sr and Amelia Perez Protich.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Centerwell home health, Hope hospice, and caretakers Regina, Judy, Danette, and Tempest for their kindness, support, and exceptional care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 24, 2024, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Friday, May 24, 2024, at Holy Cross Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. After Mass, Teresa will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum.
