Thelma Chiasson Andras

Thelma Chiasson Andras, 83, a resident of Choupic, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Claiborne Nursing Home in Thibodaux.  

Thelma was born March 1, 1940, the daughter of Claude Chiasson and Modeste Percle Chiasson.

Thelma dedicated much of her life to caring for others as a homecare provider, displaying empathy, compassion, and a genuine love for people. Her job as a caregiver gave her the opportunity to travel around the world.

Outside of her caregiving profession, Thelma found joy in various hobbies and interests. She had a deep appreciation for nature, spending countless hours tending to her beautiful floral gardens, which she nurtured with love and tenderness. Thelma's green thumb brought beauty to not only her own home but to the community as well.

One of Thelma's greatest pleasures was gathering family and friends around her table, delighting them with her culinary skills. Her home was always filled with the mouthwatering aroma of her delicious creations. Whether it was a traditional family recipe handed down through generations or an experimental dish she conjured, Thelma's talents in the kitchen brought joy and comfort to all who had the pleasure of sharing a meal with her.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her five children, Dale Andras, Randall Andras, Darla Andras, Dwayne Andras and wife Lisa, and Russell “Joe” Andras; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lois Chiasson, Ruth Landry, and Brenda Templet.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Modeste Percle; husband, Russel Joseph Andras.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30, Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Chackbay. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. After Mass, Thelma will be laid to rest in the Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery.
