Valerie Ann (Thoune) Green, aged 67, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026 at her home in Bayou Vista, Louisiana.

Valerie was born in Flint, Michigan on July 2, 1959 to Hubert and Dorothy (Jane) Thoune. She lived many years in Wallace, Michigan, before moving to Morgan City, Louisiana as a young adult. She remained in the tri-city area where she raised her children and welcomed her grandchildren.

Despite Valerie’s battle with Multiple Sclerosis, she found joy in the simple things in life. Listening to music and looking back at cherished family photos were two things she loved dearly. She was a constant source of strength and love for her family, and she will be lovingly missed and remembered by them all.

Valerie is survived by her children: her daughter, Nichole (Ebsch) Bobbitt and her husband Jeremy, and her son James (Jimi) Thoune; her grandchildren: Shane Bobbitt, Cole Bobbitt, Addison Bobbitt, Bre’Lee Goodwin, Nevaeh Thoune, and Karley Thoune; siblings: Mark Thoune, Dwight Thoune (Dorothy), Todd Thoune (Dawn), Mike Thoune (Karen), Roy Thoune (Carla), Tom Thoune and a sister-in-law Ruth Thoune; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Valerie was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Dorothy (Jane) Thoune; her brother, Keith Thoune; maternal grandparents, John and Dorothy Gauley; paternal grandparents, Frank and Isabelle Thoune; and sister-in-law, Kristine Thoune.

A celebration of life will be planned for a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor Valerie’s memory.
