William P. Lamar Sr.

October 10, 1934 — April 19, 2022

William P. Lamar, 87, of Morgan City, LA passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.

A longtime resident of Morgan City, he loved watching LSU football and baseball.  Bill enjoyed country music and especially enjoyed dancing with his lovely “little bride”.  He was a great fan of cowboys and western movies notably anything with John Wayne.  We believe he had most of them memorized!  Bill retired from Southern Pacific Railroad after 47 years of service.  His home office was the “Train Room” filled with his collection of railroad memorabilia and the love of all things trains, which he has passed on to his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Preston and Addie Lamar, brother Clyde Lamar, sisters Margaret Herber and Mary Johnson.

He is survived by his lovely wife of 67 years, Lorena Alcina  Lamar,  his favorite sister in law, Theresa Blanchard, and brother in law Jerry Johnson; children William P Lamar Jr (Michele), Addie F Fields, Loren D Lamar, June L Daigle (Calvin); grandchildren, Travis Lamar, Matthew Lamar, Adam Fields, Sarah Fields, Jacob Daigle, Brent Daigle, William Patrick Wiley, Jennifer K Kendrick, Shannon Brynne Lamar, Melissa Gomez; great grandchildren Cameron Wiley, Reid Wiley, Braden Lamar, Kaylie Gomez, Kai Gomez, Alexis Lamar, Lindsey Lamar, Victoria Lamar, Elise Lamar, Chaz Daigle, Lily Grace Daigle and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.
