William Glenn Smith

William Glenn Smith, 78, resident of Morgan City, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, while receiving hospice care at Legacy Nursing & Rehabilitation. In his final days, he was comforted by visits from his loved ones who cared for him and assured him that he was deeply loved.

Glenn was born on March 29, 1948, in Laurel, Mississippi, the son of Wallace “Smitty” Smith and Marie Patterson Smith.

He graduated from Morgan City High School, class of 1967; Glenn cherished the friendships and memories he made during his school years. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. Following his service, he returned home and embarked on an entrepreneurial career, owning and operating several businesses throughout his life.

Glenn’s adventurous spirit led him to obtain a pilot’s license at 38 years old. He frequently flew the Gulf Coast area. He loved to be near the water in his boat, in a pool, or on the beach. He also loved working in his yard, grilling, playing cards with his family, and traveling.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Yvonne Manning Smith, of Morgan City; his children Ashley Smith Ribardi (Aaron) of Mobile, Alabama, Jodie Smith Matthews (Paul) of Mobile, Alabama, Shaun Michael Smith (Leslie) of Morgan City, Kristin Smith Wiggins (Sennet) of Morgan City, and Taylor Jackson Smith (Brittany) of Morgan City; his stepchildren, Renee Chase of Baton Rouge, Kristy Hamer of Los Angeles, Milton Hamer (Erica) of Baton Rouge, and Jennifer Hamer of Mandeville; his grandchildren, Landyne Ribardi, Drew Ribardi, Bryce Ribardi, Luke Matthews, Elijah Matthews, Emma Smith, Aiden Smith, Cristina Wiggins, Sennet Wiggins III, Lainey Smith, Scottie Smith, Vivian Hamer, Augustus Hamer, Ruby Weber, and Hazel Weber; his sister, Judy Smith Babin (Wayne); sister-in-law, Rosalie Guarisco Smith; nieces, Pamela Babin Miller (Mark), Kristie Babin McNemar (John), Mary Babin, Katherine Smith Allemand (Ebb), Paula Smith Ratcliff (Randyl), Donna Smith (Gabriel Oubre), and Kelly Jo Smith Pillaro (Jake); nephews Harold Ray Smith, Jr., (Gloria), and David Paul Smith (Ashleigh).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Marie Smith; his brother, Harold Smith, Sr.; and grandchildren, Claire and Connor Smith. The family would like to thank his compassionate nurses at Legacy Rehabilitation & Nursing and care team at ACG Hospice for providing Glenn with comfort and dignity during his final days.

A Memorial Service will be held at Twin City Funeral Home on Friday, September 25, 2026. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A service will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with entombment services to follow at the Morgan City Mausoleum.
